Window Art

As most know already, my brother got married last October. (I wrote about it here and here.) Although only one event was taking place at our house, we still wanted to decorate it fully. We were also taking a bus down to LA and wanted to decorate it.

After talking to a particularly crafty friend of mine, I decided to look into glass markers. I was instantly reminded about high school and Spirit Week; the parking lot would be filled with cars decorated with things like Seniors 2004 on the windows.

They were the perfect solution: easy to apply, they came in bright colors, and would be able to withstand a 6 hour drive down I-5.

After making a quick trip to Michaels, I got to drawing. Here’s a look at how it turned out.

Let it Rain

As fun as it was wearing sandals and sipping a java chip frapuccino in January (like in this post), all good things must come to an end.  After a particularly dry winter, we are expecting a weekend filled with rain.

I actually enjoy the rain. I love the sound it makes tapping against my windows, while I sip tea or read a book. I love the smell of the rain after it has fallen. It’s like a clean slate.

Hope you all have a a happy, warm weekend!

Wall Decals

Growing up, I was not allowed to hang up anything on the walls of my room. My parents were afraid that putting up posters of the Backstreet Boys and picture frames would leave holes in the wall, thus damaging it. Also, considering that I live in Northern California, we always had to be cautious about what we put on our walls (if anything) in case an earthquake were to occur.

I recently rearranged things so I began searching for the perfect wall decoration for my room that would not harm me if an earthquake were to happen and it would not leave holes in the wall or chip the paint. Not an easy task!

I had an idea when I saw this featured on one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere. As much as I loved the idea of a tassel garland, the price tag and the size were not for me.

A few weeks later, I came across these wall decals that were on sale at Michaels. It fit my requirements and complimented the color of my walls perfectly. I knew just the place to put it.

What do you have on your walls for decoration?

Where I’ve Been

I’ve abandoned the blog these past few weeks, but I’m back now. My brother got married a week and a half ago, so I was a tad bit busy with that!

My big brother and I on his wedding day!

The four days were an absolute blast filled with fun events, lots of pretty outfits, hair and make-up, dancing, and of course being surrounded by family and friends! Looking back, it all feels like one giant blur. Unfortunately, the minute all the festivities ended my body crashed, literally. All I did for a week was sleep, sleep and sleep. I couldn’t keep my eyes open for very long and ate very minimal. I lost weight. I was miserable.

Fortunately, things are on the upswing now in that I am able to stay awake. I still have very little energy, a bad cough/cold, and little appetite but I am able to enjoy the fun part of being sick now.

You know what I mean- being able to rest, take multiple naps throughout the day, catch up on all the TV shows I missed, and read a fun book. I just downloaded Mindy Kaling’s “Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?” on my kindle and it’s hysterical!

However, I am going kind of stir crazy since I haven’t left the house or worn anything other than sweats this past week. I can’t wait to become a presentable looking human being again and not to mention a productive member of society.

While in the depths of my exhaustion last week, I decided I would treat myself to something fun and/or nice. I desperately needed a pick me upper! Well, when my brother and sister-in-law returned home for a night after their honeymoon, they got me a sweet card and a gift certificate for 2 baking classes at a cooking school in San Francisco. 🙂 I think they felt guilty I got so sick from their wedding (they better -just kidding), but I’m so excited! I’m thinking of signing up for the holiday cookie class — that would be so fun.

Anyway, I hope you all have been doing well and I am looking forward to regularly blogging again!
