Growing up, I was not allowed to hang up anything on the walls of my room. My parents were afraid that putting up posters of the Backstreet Boys and picture frames would leave holes in the wall, thus damaging it. Also, considering that I live in Northern California, we always had to be cautious about what we put on our walls (if anything) in case an earthquake were to occur.
I recently rearranged things so I began searching for the perfect wall decoration for my room that would not harm me if an earthquake were to happen and it would not leave holes in the wall or chip the paint. Not an easy task!
I had an idea when I saw this featured on one of my favorite blogs, Cupcakes and Cashmere. As much as I loved the idea of a tassel garland, the price tag and the size were not for me.
A few weeks later, I came across these wall decals that were on sale at Michaels. It fit my requirements and complimented the color of my walls perfectly. I knew just the place to put it.
What do you have on your walls for decoration?
When I was little my wall was covered in posters and pictures. So when we moved into our new home in Gilroy, I wasn’t allowed to do any of that. So I had to contain my hundreds of pictures to a cork board. The other thing that I did was, I got twine and slung it on top of my window frame and clipped photos that I had printed to the twine, using clothes pin. It’s very similar to the pretty tissues that you have hanging, but just with photographs!
Oh I had those cork boards too! The twine idea sounds cool.
When I was younger, I used to have those sticky stars you could attached to the ceiling. Then it started interrupting my sleep (amazing how long that glow lasts). So I tore those down and put up a collage of goals (places to see, things to do, etc) I had while in high school using newspaper/magazine clippings. After about 7 years have having bland walls (since I kept moving)…I’ve finally hung up some wall decors to place photos of friends and such on. Next project…finishing a puzzle to frame and hang on another wall! Yay for no more bland walls!
Haha, I had those sticky stars as well! I like the idea of having your goals on the wall..so you can always see them 🙂
LOL desi parents! Mine wouldn’t let me hang up stuff either for fear of ruining the walls 😛
Hehe I know! I don’t think my parents have any intention of moving out of our current house, so I’m good now 🙂
